The Library Foundation raises funds to support increased Web services and database enhancements so that the Los Angeles Public Library can:
  • Implement new and emerging applications that improve patron and staff communications, including instant-messaging, podcasting, RSS feeds, and email notification of events and Library news.
  • Add more subscription databases, online tutorials, and downloadable e-audio, e-video and e-music titles.
  • Add new features to the Library's Web site to enhance patron access to resources and services, such as online tutoring and personalized booklists.

In fiscal year 2010, the Library's homepage, which is accessible worldwide via the Internet, had over 155 million "hits". In addition, the Library offers dozens of research databases.

Contributions to the New Technologies Fund help the Foundation to support advances in technology.
