The Library Foundation raises funds for the Library's Performing Books program to encourage children's love of reading and the arts. Now in its seventh year, the program features professional artists who bring these stories alive through song, dance, voice, and gestures. Recent performances include:
  • The Composer is Dead by Lemony Snicket
  • The Dog Who Sang at the Opera by Jim West and Marshall Izen
  • Belinda and the Glass Slipper & Belinda in Paris by Amy Young
  • Knockin’ on Wood by Lynne Barasch

These performances are a collaboration with the Music Center and the Library to encourage literacy through the arts. They take place in the Mark Taper Auditorium at Central Library every month from September to December. This unique and engaging series offers children and families an opportunity to interact with the performers.
