ne of the most spectacular features of the Central Library is the rotunda's 2000-pound cast bronze chandelier. Nine feet in diameter and representing the solar system, it was designed by Goodhue Associates and modeled by sculptor Lee Lawrie. The globe of translucent glass is the earth tipped on its axis, with the bronze ring surrounding it containing the signs of the zodiac. The outer circle holds 48 lights set in star points. The canopy represents the sun, and in the chains from which it hangs are stars and the crescent moon.
