Parking
The Los Angeles Public Library does not own or operate public parking facilities near the Central Library. Library patrons can receive reduced rate parking with validation at the Westlawn Garage, located underneath the Central Library. Validation is available at the Library Information Desk (first floor). To obtain validation, please present a LAPL library card. The validation is a barcode imprinted on the parking ticket.

Reduced rates are in effect ONLY during the hours the Library is open to the public. The Library cannot validate parking for cars entering prior to the Library's opening or remaining after the Library is closed. If visitors enter or leave the garage when the Library is closed, they will be charged the Market Rate for the entire visit, even with library validation.

Credit card or debit cards payments can be made at the exit gates. Cash payments can only be made at the P-1 level of the parking garage before returning to your car. More information is available at the Westlawn Garage Parking Office and the Library Information Desk.

Market Rates

Weeknights (4 p.m. - 8 a.m.); and on weekends (4 p.m. - 6 a.m.): $4.00 every 10 minutes with a maximum of $8.00 per day
Handicapped Access and Parking
The Central Library is fully accessible to the disabled throughout the building. Flower and Fifth Street entrances have ramps.

There are two options for parking for the disabled. On the south side of Fifth Street near the Fifth Street entrance to the Central Library, there are two parking spaces with no meters or charges. In addition, disabled parking is located in the Westlawn Garage immediately to the right as you enter the facility.

Public Transportation
The Metro Blue Line (7th St./Metro Center/Julian Dixon Station) and Metro Red Line (7th St./Metro Center/Julian Dixon Station and Pershing Square Station) both have stops near Central Library. Most buses which come downtown stop near the Central Library. Check the MTA web site (http://www.metro.net/index.asp) for rates, routes and schedules.
